    Swarovski X5 Scope

Anybody use one of the new X5 scopes? I'm considering one for my 300 RUM hunting rifle.

    Any feedback is much appreciated.

No way I'm putting a $3300 scope on a hunting rifle, a $1500 to $1700 Z5 should be good enough. Heck even a z6 at $1000 to $1100 less would be better suited.

I didn't ask what you would do. I asked about experience with the X5. My rifle is a long range, precision hunting rifle, $1K glass is not what I'm looking for.

Can't offer you any advice on that particular scope but I'm curious what it is about that scope that peaks your interest over some of the other makers that are more commonly used by LR shooters - brands like Nightforce, S&B, Huskemaw, etc. - that are roughly in that price point?

Price is irrelevant if you can afford it and performance is everything. There are LOTS of shooters who put very expensive glass on their hunting rifles because it's often the glass that's the limiting factor in whether you can take/make a shot at distance. You're correct that there are some great scopes under $1,700 but there are BETTER scopes that cost more. Scopes that will do more and do more more easily. What difference does it make if it's a hunting rifle on a bench gun? You ought to be caring for each the same way. Not sure I follow your reasoning about not putting premium glass on a hunting rifle?

Some people just don't get it do they? I have no experience with the x5 other than just playing with it and looking thru it a little. As with all swaro's the glass was fantastic. There was a big difference in how the turrets felt compared to my z3. They were way more crisp and you could feel each click better. I wouldn't be afraid to try one but for that price it's a gamble. All the long range shooters I know personally have not been real receptive to them. So I'd be afraid if I bought new and didn't like it I'd lose a LOT of money on resale. Where if you buy a Schmidt you wouldn't lose nearly as much

On a personal note I hope you buy one and if you do please write up a review abd let us know what you think.

I get It, guess I'm just poor. At some point I think the return on your investment doesn't out way the benefits on glass for a hunting rifle.

                  Thanks Horitexan & Caddokiller.

I have NF scopes on other rifles - and they are accurate, and durable scopes. In my opinion the NF glass is really good, but not great. I may put a NF scope on the 300 RUM.
I'm tempted by the potential quality of the Swaro glass in the X5. I have a pair of Swaro EL binos, the quality of the glass is unbelievable. It would be nice to have the same quality of glass in a scope.

For this gun/application I think I want a SFP, MOA scope. I won't be attempting to range targets with the reticle, and I would like a larger view of the reticle at shorter distances.
The X5 meets these criteria, and the 5x25 scope is a little lighter (30 oz) than other scopes in the same class.

I was just curious if anyone is using an X5 and could comment on the glass, usability, and how it tracks at distance.

Dude; trying to prove an ROI on hunting gear / hunting related expenses is an exercise in futility. Have you ever attempted to estimate the net cost per pound of wild venison? [emoji22][emoji379]

My wife and I work hard, return more than what is required to The Lord, help those less fortunate than us, we pay all of our bills, provide a good life for our children, and we have a solid plan for retirement. Given this, I'm comfortable with spending an unjustifiable amount of money on 100% kick-*** gear.
                    Can I get an amen?!?!?

I'm at about $200 a pound this year. I'm all for buying whatever you want and I buy my fair share of stuff I do not need but want. Seems like a nice scope but just thought it may be over kill depending on application. How far of shots do you plan on taking?

                            Amen!

I'm interested in a review as well.

I have a couple of Swaro scopes and they are hands down the best I've ever looked through.

Companies like Swarovski don't typically jump off into the market with a half *** products. I bet it will be fantastic.

I'm not sure which way I'm going on the glass, but I will let you guys know if I buy the X5. I really do appreciate the feedback.
