For comparison the chart I posted above is my 20" Grendel, shooing 129 grain ABLR at 2550 fps. With 19 grains more weight and a MUCH higher BC, the Grendel blows it out of the water.

For that matter a 6x45 would be a better choice than the Wolverine. There is also a company out there producing a 6.5mm in a 5.56 case. Maybe a 6.5 Patriot? But you certainly won't find any of those 3 on the shelf anywhere.

Who says the 6.8 cannot be suppressed? It's been done and being done all the time maybe not as common as the 300BO but certainly not a draw back.

Never said it couldn't. But all the glory of the 300 BO comes from its suppressed performance. If you don't care about being suppressed the 6.8 outperforms it in every way.

Best performance is the 6.5 Grendel, hands down. Lilja is making drop in barrels and if the rifle is assembled well, it will most likely outshoot all the bolt guns you have. This is a legitimate deer and pig slayer at 400 plus. Sure you have to buy different mags than the 5.56 but for $15 a piece, it should not be much of a factor in your decision.

Will Grendel feed from 6.8 mags?

I'm getting a 300 blackout because I want to suppress, and it's a much smaller package when suppressed. The 300 AAC was designed around a short barrel (9 or 10 inches I think), so, with a 10 inch barrel and a 7 inch suppressor I'm still at a reasonable length to pack around the woods and shoot piggies. Plus, a 300 AAC suppressed with subsonic loads would be a lot of fun to ring some steel with.

I like the 6.5 g the best but looking around I see more 6.8 stuff offered. I didn't see 6.5g on rock river or many of the other manufacturing sites. Maybe im not looking at right places. Also worried about ammo, but as Mike stated earlier it can be bought online.

I'm more than a bit of a 6.8 fanboi. I run a suppressor on mine in 12.5", 16", and 20" (a bolt gun) lengths ... they are all hearing safe based on OSHA impact noise level requirements.

That said, if you're really looking at a hunting gun that's going to *regularly* see the far side of 300 I'd look at something in a 308 based case or more. My fav is the 260 Rem ... I'm eventually going to get an AR10 or similar chambered in 260.

You mentioned PSA earlier in the thread. If you are looking for a budget rifle, you won't find may if any choices. Grendel is still a bit of a niche round but it continues to gain popularity.

Here is an option. I don't know much about them as I've never owned one but it's not a bad price at all.

I have not tried it so I don't have any real world experience trying to do this. I have read in various forums that the Grendel and the 6.8 mags have identical followers other than the color.....

I tried to put my Grendel rounds in my PRI 6.8 waffle mags. I could get about 5 round in a 15 round mag pretty easily. After that they started binding. The Grendel case is fatter than the SPC case.

Check out underground tactical just outside of Austin. My 18" barrel is from them with 5R rifling and it is well under sub MOA with hornady 123 SST that I find a shelf full of at cabelas in Buda...
