    Fixed stock or collapsible stock?

What type of stock do you prefer on your AR? What are the pros and cons of a fixed stock versus an collapsible? Obviously you can adjust the length of pull on a collapsible stock but is there any other advantages? I'm not a big fan of the little bit of rattle/wobble in a collapsible stock even though it doesn't affect performance. I will be using my AR for hunting coyotes and hogs.

I've used both. I have collapsible but I liked fixed. Teaching young kids to shoot is where the collapsible comes in handy. I don't have kids of my own but my cousins like to shoot and a fixed stock would be a little much. Other than that I can't really think of any advantage except it's more compact.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

Anybody else got some advice. This is going to be my first AR build. A buddy that's built a few is gonna help me out it together (basically he will put it together)

If you plan on using it as a truck rig I like the collapsible stock just for ease of getting it in and out of the truck in a hurry, and with practice you can often shoot it with the stock collapsed just fine at least for pig or yote accuracy in a hurry. Which it is sounding like this will be a truck gun rig.

If not going with a truck gun I would go fixed all the way.

I have had both and much prefer the collapsible stock for a couple reasons. Greater mobility in and out of truck or SxS and being able to adjust LOP. Shooting offhand, I am most comfortable one position out on stock; shooting prone, I move it to the second position due to body position.

Also balance will come into play, the above is on a carbine. If you are looking at a rifle length, the typical collapsible stock is light weight and you will tend to be nose heavy on the rifle length AR.

I teach patrol rifle for law enforcement and see the same issues come up over and over.

              Collapsible
it gives me the option of changing from Leupold scope to thermal and a quick stock adjustment takes care of the eye relief issue

Collapsible always for me. Maneuverability. Storage options, various shooting situations, etc...
