    Reloading Question

    Question for you guys:

What tool do i need to buy to measure overall length of a loaded bullet?

I know I am not supposed to measure from the tip of the bullet as those can be inconsistent.

Shooting a 6.5 CM if that matters.

    Thanks

The specs that I have seen are for the overall length. Granted, if you do some testing the bullet that you choose could be seated out further. You just want to stay behind the lands by 1 or 2 thousands.

Take a look at the Hornady comparator set. It measures to the bullet ogive and not the tip of the bullet. They are about $35 for a set that has 6 inserts for different caliber a. You can measure a few bullets the see what they are to the tip and the see what that corresponds to using the comparator set. There are you tube videos on how it works. Pretty easy.

Caliper of some sort. I have a frankford Arsenal that works well.

This is what I use but the hex unit Blake mentioned looks handy with no inserts to keep up with.

Pretty much any device that allows you to measure to the ogive will work.

OAL deals with whether or not it will fit into the magazine and nothing more. The ability to measure to the ogive is what's important for load development.
