If this is your major question, the answer is that you will definitely NOT get the most out of your custom rifle with factory ammo. While it will shoot your factory ammo better than most factory rifles, you won't utilize the real work that they put into building your rifle. I would say ifyou really want something one off, go for it, but if you are just looking for another 100-200 yrd hunting rifle, I'd buy a factory rifle and spend the addition $ on optics or other fun stuff. I've got several factory rifles with a little work that shoot 1/2 Moa and I have 2 custom rifles that are similar in performance but are wonderful pieces of gun art.

With a factory rifle, it is somewhat luck of the draw if you will get a real shooter or not. I have several factory rifles that shoot sub .5 MOA. Of all the rifles I've had only one didn't benefit from handloads

My opinion is yes & no..... There are custom guns that shoot lights out and ive seen some that shoot like a factory remington off the shelf. BUT ive also seen cheap factory guns that shoot better than some custom rifles! This picture is a 4 shot group i personally shot with a marlin x7vh 22-250 ($350 gun). If your going to build a custom gun, its highly suggested to review alot of his work!
