Where to look for a bare action?

I want to get a couple to practice with, trueing, barreling, etc. Got a lathe in my garage I finally need to start using.

You talking a bare action with no bolt? Or with bolt?

my suggestion ... buy some $10 bar stock aluminum or steel , and practice first before buying a $350 action

if you want to re-barrel actions, start looking in pawn shops or on the inet for cheaper priced guns

I have been doing machine work as a hobby for 20 years and recently trued and barreled several 98 Mauser actions. If you build your own tools and fixtures instead of sending Brownells a blank check it takes some time. I recently acquired the material to make the fixtures to true R700 actions. So that will be my next project. Get some time on the machine before you try an action. Machine work is part science, part art and part hard earned experience.
