    Load development complete

    I've been shooting 175 smk's out of the 308 for a while. Changed over to 178 Hornady match because higher BC. Took them out did some load testing. The same powder charge that was the most accurate under the 175 smk's was the most accurate under this one as well. Best of the day was .221 average of .290"

    Best average I've ever had, since I was load testing I was doing 3 round groups not 5. I did shoot one group at 300 yards, that one...... Promising.

      Looks good to me. I could never convince myself to shoot that heavy of a bullet in .308. It kills velocity

        Rem 700, XLR Chassis, 18" barrel, Jewell trigger, 20 moa base, PA 4-12 scope.

        I have a 18" barrel, MV isn't my priority. lol.

        But high BC makes up for a little speed at the far end. Faster burning powders you can make up some of that velocity. I was shooting the 175 smk at 2610 fps. Lapua brass, loaded 2.885 oal, 44 grains of 4064. I would venture to say these are very close to the same speed, won't know till I get new chrono though.
