Long range gun ranges and ammo

I got a Zeiss Conquest HD5 5-25x50 for Xmas [emoji51][emoji51] I'm itching to try it out.

Need suggestions on good factory ammo for my 7 mag. I currently use 140 grain silver tips

What are some good long range gun ranges in central Texas? I'm in Hutto

I know of the one in Liberty Hill but I've never been nor do I even know the name.

Best of the West is the place to be IMO. Factory long range ammo.... I'm not that well versed in the 7 mag, but check HSM, Black Hills, and other small manufacturers for anything loaded with a 160+ grain bullet.... Berger (basically any Berger bullet in that weight class), Hornady A-max or the new ELD-X (I'm not sure about other offerings from Hornady), Sierra Matchking etc.

I'm gonna try to stay at or close to 140, it's served me well thus far. The round does a lot of damage I wouldn't want to go bigger for whitetail haha. I'm going to look into hornady and see what they have for it

Check out Barnes Bullets website. I am not sure if they are loading the 145 gr LRX in their Vortex line or not but that is the bullet I am reloading in my 7mm RUM. The LRX is Barnes's long range bullet.
In my RUM that bullet incredibly accurate and flat shooting.

A 140 class SST from Hornady would be good then.

The reason I suggested going heavier was to get a better BC. The 140 class will be fine I'm sure though.

Heavier won't make any noticeable difference in meat damage but improve your trajectory & windage considerably.

I probably won't make it out there until deer season is done which is end of Febuary for me

If you're looking to stretch it out, Try HSM ammo first. They are as close to handloaded quality as you can find.

The smith at Cooper told me a couple years back that they use HSM on a great deal of their new rifle testing for the .5moa guarantee.
