I believe any politician who try to disassemble the constitution should be tried for treason.

While I think we all know TVC184 is correct - I think there is a big difference. This President wants to implement more gun control. Every democrat wants to implement more gun control. They only have to campaign for an issue - Fail at the campaign only to justify why the President needs the power to implement more control.

We are going to need a better plan or locolobo - is going to be proven right.

Because it is an election year.

Remember that House members are elected locally and from within often very narrow communities. Look at how many times the Republicans brought up bills to kill Obamacare, knowing that they didn't have the votes to pass it. Sometimes it is the gesture that counts in politics. I am going to guess that the representatives that signed off on this particular piece of legislation (125 out of 435 members) are in fairly liberal districts.

Like Obamacare where at the moment the Republicans might as well do nothing about it as they simply do not have the majority in the Senate to kill a filibuster (60). If they do nothing though, they will be accused of (as they often are in this and other forums) of not doing enough to stop it. So they submit bills that will be dead on arrival but it will show that they still care or will uphold their election promise or whatever.

While gun control is a losing bet at this moment nationally, go to Nancy Pelosi's or Elijah Cummings' districts and see what their voters think about this "losing issue".

Why did they bring it up during an election year? Because it is an election year.

I hate to say it, but the day these crooks in office decide to ban guns, is the day the second revolution starts. It is going to take something like that for people to finally get these people out of office, they can't be voted out.
