My kids have been asking for a real rifle, they are well practiced on the .22.
I decided to get them a 7mm-08 over the 243 because I can load reduced recoil loads and it will kick a tad less than a 243 and be throwing a 140 grain bullet with enough knock down for a whitetail out to 150. Not that being said they are limited to about 75 yards at my deer lease so no worries on pigs or deer at that range.
Anyway, they got the rifle today when we got home from out of town. I went with the CVA hunter compact. It fit my son the best when we went to the store. Went and got the dies, 100 bullets, and some brass. In the past when I am reloading they will occasionally come over and ask to help. I let them pull the handle to de-prime and resize, they get to push the buttons on the powder dispenser for charge weight. Things like that, but they usually only help for a minute or two, my son more so than my daughter. However, today was completely different. They wanted to help with every part of the reloading process. They didn't leave my side until all of the rounds were loaded. Headed to the range tomorrow to see how much they like the new rifle. Its great to see them so involved and so enthusiastic about reloading and shooting.
