    AR 15 Build help.

Ok guys help me out. I am new to this game and I want to build a gun on a budget.

I am looking at this upper:

    With the following options:

    Barrel:16" 5.56 1 in 7 twist

    BCG:Melonite BCG

    Charging Handle:Standard Mil-Spec

Muzzle Options:Standard A2 FH (No Charge)

Cerakote Upper & Rail:None (No Charge)

    For a total of $309.84

Then this lower build kit for $99.99.

    Total so far: $409.83

Adding a stripped lower is there anything I am missing?

Sorry if I am asking dumb questions. I own a hunting rifle, a shotgun and thats about it in the firearm department. My wife gave me the go ahead on this so I want to get it done but I want to build it myself.

this upper doesn't include the bolt carrier assembly.
you'll also need the springys for the stuff in the back.

[EDIT] good on you for doing it yourself.
any dickbag can buy **** off of a shelf.

Thanks for the reply. Hmm. Wonder why that wasn't one of the options when selecting the upper options. That's different than the bolt carrier group? Again, I'm a noob to this so I want to make sure I get it right.

I added the link to it in my original post. Not sure why it didn't show the first time.

No. Conquest probably didnt realize you selected the melonite BCG. Looks like you got everything here to build a complete AR. Just need magazines, iron sights/optics and some ammo and your ready to go. Palmetto had some lower recievers last week for $49 but looks like it went up to $59. Either way, still good deal. Some of the roll pins are a pain to put in. I recommend you purchasing some roll pin starters punch set on Ebay along with a punch set as well. The starter punch set will save you some frustrations and a scratched up gun. Good luck.

Personally I would not get the lower parts kit with the junk buttstock and junk grip. You will not like or keep them. Just wasted parts that no one will ever want. Get a kit without those 2, or they have kits with different options.

Standard LPK plus buffer tube, spring, buffer, castle nut and keeper(proper name eludes me ATM) and stock.

Were it me, I would get a standard LPK without the fire control group, a buffer tube kit and stock of your choice, and a decent trigger like CMC, Giessele or even a RRA two stage. The trigger that comes with most of the cheap LPK's sucks worse than a Hillary/ Sanders presidency will.

When assembling the lower. Cover as mush of it as you can in blue painters tape to prevent scratching and marring. The bolt catch lever is one of the hardest pins to set. That is where most of the time many scratch up the lower with the hammer and punch.
A dummy magazine is made to hold the lower upright while you work on it. You place it in a vice and the lower on the dummy mag to make it easier to work on. Install mag catch first in order to be able to do that. Many videos on youtube on how to build a AR.
If you are building a collapsible stock model you will need a AR wrench, which is a multi tool( or just a castle nut wrench) to tighten the castle nut that holds the buffer tube within the stock. Get a good set of punches. Buy once cry once..
                    Good Luck.

                        AR 15 Build help.

Thanks for the advice guys! I am going to keep researching and checking sites but will probably pull the trigger on this. I get that these may not have the best of parts or options but may goal is to get this done and within my limited budget while the wife is willing. I know I will slowly upgrade some things.

Nothing wrong with upgrading later. Lol. I just finished a 300 blackout pistol couple of months ago. I just submitted my form 1 electronically the other day to convert it into a SBR. Hopefully it won't take long to get approved.

Some folks like to buy a quality rifle over the cheapest bag of parts that you can throw together.
