    suppressor question

I am running a gemtech suppressor on my 18 inch barrel AR. My question is after one shot all the shells in the mag look like they been in a campfire. It gets real smokey and dirty after just a few rounds. Is that normal? Or does my gas block need some adjusting?

yep... normal. every AR I own gets really dirty with the suppressor on it. if you rapid fire you may even get some gas coming out in your face. part of the suppressor game.

you can rectify some of the gas issues with a heavier spring and buffer, or an adjustable gas block... but mine has about 500 rounds through it suppressed with mil spec items, and it just gets dirty... that's it.

Another option is swapping out your DI system for a piston system.

Suppressor still has some pressure in it as the brass is extracted, and blows some gasses back down the barrel and around the brass.

            Nature of suppressed shooting.
Most ARs are over gassed and suppressors make it worse. You could get an adjustable gas block that may help a little but they are still going to get dirty.

The Gemtech bolt carrier is actually legit. Might look into it.
