Maybe get the ambidextrous one and cut off everything from the left side?

Huh? I don't get the problem then. You're saying a standard charging handle is bugging you that much?

If it's slung across your chest your vest/plate carrier should keep anything from poking you.

I've considered that. Not sure it would be possible but if I can't find one designed to work that way I may try it.

I don't typically use a chest rig but you are correct, it would. That might be the best answer yet.

When running and gunning or transitioning to pistol it needs to be more secure than bouncing off the shoulder especially so you don't break 180.

What type of sling are you running? I'm a right handed shooter and have a 2 point on the left side of my AR. When I transition to pistol I use my left hand to push the rifle down to my body, mag is pointed toward my left shoulder and trapped by the sling, optic is pointed towards my right foot. Right side of the rifle is towards my body, the charging handle latch faces outwards.

No issues with discomfort even when I'm not wearing a chest rig.
