AR in .25-45 ?

A friend has an AR he built years ago in 25-223. That was it's name before it got all legit. It kills deer all out of proportion to it's size. Not a 25-06 by any means, but a nice compact and efficient round. The heavy weight bullets aren't the ticket, but 87 grainers are the stuff.
