Winchester model 70 featherweight in .25-06
Tikka t3 hunter fluted in .25-06
    Weatherby Vanguard Sporter in .25-06

Will be a wood stocked rifle
    Obviously, caliber is set.

Model 70. I hate the weatherby safety and the t3 wood stocks are just ugly. Actually the whole rifle is for that matter.

I'm all for the synthetic model. I just thought you were trying to pick up something classy looking. Both the vanguard sporter and mod 70 are very nice looking guns.

I appreciate what you are sayin...... It's the "why" part of what I am asking
I just personally do not like any synthetic stock except the sendero...... Which she who must be obeyed won't let me afford .....LOL

The Tikka T3 has the best trigger out of all three of those rifles. If you want to adjust it down it is just one screw adjustment.

                  Of those listed...the 70 or T3.

If you want a good looking wood stock, I'd add an X-Bolt Medallion to the mix.

Winchester Mod 70 Featherweight. I have one in .270 and love it. Very classy looking rifle.

Ruger makes a nice wood stock (Hawkeye or older tang safety).

I am a sucker for the 70 featherweights,
But the tikka would be hard to beat I know.

I'd totally go with the Remington 700 in 30-06

Seriously, I've been eye-balling the Tikka for a new rifle for my son, I like the adjustable trigger and I've heard they are very accurate out of the box. They look nice also, especially with the wood stock.

I agree... The 70 FW is definitely old school classic and the riflemans rifle
