    School me on Remington .223

So I recently picked up a Remington 700 .223 bolt action bull barrel. What distance can I shoot it at accurately? I've read online up to 600 yes with the right scope.?. I was gonna shoot the Hornandy sst bullet out of it so there a large exit hole. Pretty much Yall school me on any info you have about the distance and stuff along those lines. Also I'm getting the barrel threaded and getting a silencer soon. So if you know about those lets here it. Also any mods Yall would recommend on the rifle.

Possible. That 223 is a small round though. 55 grain...

What do you plan on shooting? Paper? Varmints? Or deer sized game?

I have a Remington 700 in .223. It is one of the most accurate rifles I have but I'm not sure if it could be usable at 600 yds.

Made my furthest kill with a .223 at 645yards on a prairie dog near hale center several years ago. Was running black hills ammo with 55gr vmaxes. The cartridge is capable accurately sending a bullet that far, but there are better options. My friends were using 22-250's and their guns would out shoot mine at longer distances....guess it's better to be lucky than good!

I have killed deer out to about 150 yards with mine. For paper and steel 600-800 depending on your shooting skill and the rifle. To shoot that far consistently you will nee a barrel with a fast twist to shoot 70+ grain bullets.

Could be utilized on small game at 600 yds but not enough KE for large deer size game and don't expect an exit would unless you are using full metal jacketed bullets and then it will only be a small bullet size would.

300 yards on coyote sized animals is about max. You can kill a yote further than that but you have to hit it perfectly and the bullet drops off alot past 300 yards.

My Remington 700 .223 with bull barrel has a 1-12 twist and doesn't like anything higher than 55 grains. Personally, I wouldn't shoot at a deer over 300 yds. Not saying it isn't possible. But the bullets I shoot are only flat up to about 235 yds

I'll make hits with mine at 1000. Lol.

223AI 80 grain amax. Custom build. It's certainly capable. 2930 fps with an 80 grain amax. Look at a 243. Bout the same with that weight grain in a 243

I'm definitely sticking with the .233 I'm looking at like 300 yards max and 55 grain. Shooting deer and stuff like that and hog hunting (that's what the silencer is for) but thank all of you guys for the input I appreciate it. Pretty much anything over 300 on a deer is to much.

Every Marine qualifies with an M-16 from 200-500 yards annually. Did I mentioned that's with open sights? That's right, no scope.

So with an excellent bolt gun like the 700 in .223, you should be able to nail targets at 500 yards plus.

Federal Fusion is a great 223 round for deer, 62 gr.

I suggest bumping up to a higher weight and a good hunting Bullet. Not the amax or vmax on deer. Verify your rate of twist and make sure it'll stabilize first. Especially before shooting through the can.
