    Lets talk aftermarket stocks

So I have a rem 700 varmint adl bull barrel in 308 and wanting to change the stock, base and rings. Just dropped a Timney in it and it's a night/day difference. I haven't even shot the rifle yet. Need suggestions on my options here

Under $500, look at HS Precision. They'll have several good choices and are a step up from Bell and Carlson and laminates. If you can scratch up a bit more coin, you could get into a Manners or McMillan. www.stockystocks.com has probably everything you'll be interested in.

I went with an HS precision on my first build and I'm just not super impressed with the quality of the stock over my Mcmillan. I like the balance and look. It's comfortable to shoot but there's just a few little things I dislike.

At the $500 range I'd be looking at Mcmillan if you're not in immediate need of it. Lead time is 4 months last I checked.

For about another $75 you can get a McMillian

Yeah, what Cajun said, skip Choate. McMillan and Manners are definitely a step up from an HS Precision. Whether it's worth it is the question you'll have to answer. It's not really that it's $75 more though. It's a little more than your maximum stated budget, but it's a lot more than a perfectly serviceable HS Precision. The resale for HS Precisions is really good though so you can get a good bit for a used HS if you decide to upgrade later.

I put a xlr element in my varmint and I couldn't be happier. Instead of having to buy bottom metal to accept AICS mags they machine it where it will accept it. Improved my groupings a lot!

$655 including shipping with the tactical butt stock. I also got the folding attachment that was an extra $115. Ordered it straight from their factory. Go to xlrindustries.com and give them a call.
Shot this group a couple of days ago. Top left 3 shots 100 yards
