    Marlin 336 gold trigger

I have seen a few times lately people mention the marlin 336 rifle. Just figured I would share a pic of mine. My mom bought this gun for my dad in the 80's and had to put it on layaway at the time. If I remember right it was a $85 gun! I grew up hunting with this gun for years. It did originally come with a wood stock but when I was young we were heading in the woods and I tripped and broke the stock. Finally upgraded the scope on it a few years ago to a Nikon prostaff. I still use this gun every year especially if I am going to do a lot of walking or in thick brush.

Looks good. But I'm kinda biased to them lever guns.

I have much respect for the Marlin 336. It's profile is instantly recognizable. A known deer harvesting machine. I took my first deer with my uncles Marlin. I lost my father to cancer in October of 2012 that December my Mom walked out Christmas Eve with my Dad's Marlin 336. He did not hunt with us as much because he was a Vietnam veteran and hearing the shots through the woods put him in a bad state of mind- so his Marlin was flawless. The sight of it (any Marlin)brought back memories and a hit in the stomach - she said he told her to give it to me before he passed, it's priceless to me. I'm going to make sure my son takes a buck with it.

Kind of crazy these old guns can hold so much sentimental value. I have been takin my nephew out trying to get him on a shooter and he uses the 30-30 when he goes. I have a custom made .270 that was passed to my dad from my Uncle that passed from cancer a few years ago. I have taken many deer with that .270 as well but it is long so I don't like using it in thick brushy areas.

I love Marlins. Have had a number of them over the years. I got a beauty of a 1967 336 off Cottonfish here, and I ain't ever letting it go!
