    Lazer Recommendations?

Looking at a Crimson Trace lazer for my Glock 30sf which is my primary carry. My only experience with them was a unit I had on a AR several years ago. It was a POS from a POS dealer, I learned from further experience, so it went in the "distant" storage area of the safe where it still remains.

Eyes are getting bad and thought this would be a good addition for close range combat/defense use. I'm old school and we never used them during my LEO days so little to NO experience.

Looking for "ease to turn on/off, compact, secure mount, accurate/adjustable and <$150 max!

    Any "experienced" recommendations are welcomed

I like the rail mounted Crimson Trace better than the grip. I just don't like how their grips feel on glocks. But the rail one interferes with most holsters and as its your CC, that could be an issue. CT makes good stuff, so if you can live with the grip you can't go wrong there. Also check out the lasermax guide rod unit. I don't have experience with it but I like the idea, and it seems pretty legit.

Life depends on it? Crimson Trace or Streamlight. Cheap-o range toy? Amazon/FleaBay special.

Not sure what you are referring to as "cheap-or-range toy?" I've shot plenty times with a "less expensive/brand" than others on TBH will put down, so my apologies if I took this the wrong way? Just asking for clarification...price does NOT always mean performance. Just ask my Military "sniper" son...

Sorry for any confusion. "Cheap-o" range toy may not apply to your situation. I just meant that a person could save some bucks and get a inexpensive laser for a gun that didn't really matter life/death. Your carry gun—of course—should not be something you take shortcuts with.

IMO it doesn't get any better than Crimson Trace for a defensive gun. No extra switches to manipulate, totally instinctive when you take a firing grip on the gun.

Get night sights instead of a laser.

Night sights do you no good if you can't see them.

Neither does a laser it really just lets the bad guy know where you are.

No worries, I seem to be more confused as time marches on, LOL! I'm leaning towards the Crimson and like you stated, have seen some "very cheap" lazers advertised which remind me of the POS I had before. Thanks!

I bought one of the crimson trace rail master IR lasers for AR night time hunting. For about $200 I was pleased enough that I bought another. These are mounted on AR's however but their primary purpose was to be mounted on pistols with rails. They are not bullet proof so don't think you can throw them around but they are fairly well constructed and hold a zero.

I have the crimson trace grip on my G19. It is very nice since you don't have to do anything other that hold to pistol to turn it on. When you grip it to fire the light comes on and its pretty bright. You wont get much distance out of it in the daylight outside, but inside it and at night its great and has pretty good distance. Since I recently got the G43 I have put the 19 in the safe and I am currently looking for something for that pistol. Im probably going with the steamlight light/laser combo.
