    1988 Cat D4c...need some help

I bought a Cat Dozer D4C to clear cedars on my land. Got about 10 acres done and I noticed what looked to be hydraulic oil leaking from the back of the blade on a welding bead. Why in the world would it be leaking from the back of the blade? When I try to use the lever that would swing the blade left it works perfectly but if I swing it right, it moves very very slow. To me I've lost hydraulic pressure?

I checked all hoses and found no leaks or breaks. I'm completely baffled by that small leak of something on the back side of the blade (right side) half the way down.

Blown seals in the cylinder that moves the blade left or right?

Has to be dripping from somewhere. It can't just bleed through steel. Is there a cylinder up higher that it could be leaking from?

Yep you have a big leak somewhere and it's not from the steel. See where the hoses for the tilt cylinder are routed. Sounds like that's where your leak is

Clean the entire cylinder and piston, as well as the hose where it goes into the cylinder.
Check the lowest point of the inner cylinder shaft for fluid after operating in place a bit. Check the hose end where it plus into the cylinder. Most likely spots for hyd leak.
Remember, hyd systems require bleeding after service.

Probably spraying onto the blade when you turn the blade. I'd get someone to watch all cylinders while I moved them.
