So we have a HUGE jackrabbit problem at the ranch. So i got to thinking how can i thin these suckers out WHILE deer hunting and not disrupt my hunt. Solution, get my old savage mark ii out of the safe, thread it and suppress it. Here is my question(s)...anyone out there chime in on barrel length. Im thinking of getting it cut down to 14.5". i want to be able to shoot 100yards accurately. also open to shorter lengths if someone can justify it for me with accuracy. im not sure hopw carried away with this idea i will get but as of right now its just a barrel chop and thread however feel free to post up anything...may do a stock as well. planning stages right now, thanks for the feed back

i randomly chose 14.5 because it leaves me about 3" past the stock and leave me with a overall 19" barrel including 5" suppressor.
If I was gonna SBR one, I think I would go around 10-12"
Just my opinion

Accuracy would be fine at a shorter length. Barrel length doesn't define accuracy. My 8" 300 blackout is a sub moa with the right Ammo.
And with subsonics it will be no louder than a Daisy Red Rider. It will still thump jackrabbits as long as the distance is kept reasonable.Last edited by Mike D; 11-24-2015, 01:02 PM.

True but i was more concerned with a shorter barrel velocity would be effected thus creating tumbling and a lack of accuracy at 100 yards.
after taking a couple measurements, a 12.5 inch barrel will leave me 1.5" in front of the stock. this would make the overall length 17.5" with can. im thinking is may be the length to go

I think this would be a super cool setup

And the above video is a semi auto, which is louder because you hear the action working.Last edited by Patton; 11-24-2015, 03:31 PM.
