Scope mount for Long Range Shooting

Looking for recommendations for the best base/ring combo for a long range build. Gun is a Remmy 700 SPS Varmint in .308. What does everybody use?

The scope I will probably start with will be a Zeiss 6.5-20x50, but I will upgrade that in the future as funds allow. Eventually want to go with a Nightforce for adjustability for the longer range once I start stretching it out, but I have a spare Zeiss in the safe that needs a ride right now.

I've got a new stock & trigger for the gun now and I'm anxious to get it all put together and start shooting.

Ken Farrell makes good bases and rings. Just google his name.

100% of my optics are mounted with LaRue products. Started using them in the military and will never change. 1 day shipping in TX too!

Nightforce 20 MOA Rail with NF Light weight rings same gun here. I have same set up on my 300 RUM and it has been flawless.

Both have base bedded and rings lapped FWIW

Stiller 20moa Seekins rings on my 300RUM. No issues I beat it around a lot in Colorado this year.

Isn't the Zeiss a 1 inch tube? You'll be going to a 30 or 34mm when you upgrade scopes so you will change rings too.

You are correct - the Zeiss is 1" and I realize I'll be stepping up to a different size ring when I swap scopes.

                        Thanks guys for the info!

I use Farrell bases and rings. Recently I mounted my newest S&B in a GDI P-ROM. Hopefully I can take it off my 308 AR and put it on my 300 mag when needed. We shall see how that works out.
