Got my new Tikka T3 set up and got some range time

Went with a .30-06 (thanks to those who participated in the other thread) and I'm glad I did. Recoil was a little "brisk" but honestly it wasn't that bad. Put about 40 rounds through it today and I'm no worse for the wear. I don't like recoil but the Decelerator and slight added weight on the new stock tamed it enough to make it manageable.

    Tikka T3 Lite Stainless
    Bell and Carlson Medalist
    Talley Lightweight rings and bases
    Swarovski Z3 3-10X42 BRH reticle

Not sure how you measure the group, from end to end or center to center but either way my best group was a pretty good one for a stock deer rifle and 165 grain Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Tip ammo. Also used was 150 grain Nosler Trophy Grade with Nosler Partitions, Federal Premium 165 grain Nosler Partitions and Barnes Vortex 150 grain Tipped TSX BT. I'll have to do some more shooting and make sure some of the fliers I saw were the ammo and not me. When I cranked the scope down to about 6, groups tightened up significantly. Overall, I'm pumped about the gun and I'm looking forward to shooting it some more later next week.

I think I'm gonna build another one in 7mm-08 just like this one but with a different colored stock

Very nice. Love my Tikka 22-250. Been thinking about selling my Ruger .270 and replacing it with a Tikka 7mm-08 or .270 WSM

Nice setup. I have one in 25 06 and I just put a new wooden thumbhole stock from Boyds it is really nice, you may want to take a look at them.

        I'll bet a .22-250 is a deer/hog killing SOB.

I can spell my name with it using Remington Core-Lokt PSP, and can spell it in cursive with Hornady V-MAX lol

If you ever get the urge for a light weight varmint rifle add a bargain price that doesn't play games, I'd suggest one!

I may do that with a new rifle. This one is my go-to all weather rifle. Spent a week in the rain last year and got my late grandpa's rifle all rusted up. This rifle was the solution: stainless and synthetic stock with an awesome scope.

Not trying to hi-jack your thread but I was looking at those same mounts and rings for my tikka .308, do you think that I would need mediums or highs for a 3x9x50?

I have the .308 with the same scope and end up used the recommended base and rings by tikka. I tried the other brands both medium and high just wouldn't work for me. You'll just have to try what works for u.

I used the lows and I have a bunch of space between the bell and the barrel. The only thing about that 50mm is having enough space to get scope caps on there too. You might think you've got enough room and then those caps won't fit.

Thanks Mike D for helping me out, I really do appreciate it.
