Remington 788 issue with Timney Trigger

I just put a Timney trigger in my Remington 788. While in the fire position, the bolt will slide all the way out of the gun as if the release mechanism is activated. Is there any adjustment I can do to remedy this?

I shimmed the front on the trigger assembly with a thin piece of metal.

I will give that a try. I'm thinking of using a piece of beer can cut to width. Thanks

Im pretty sure on the Timney site they say that some models of rifles, the trigger may need alterations. Look on their site, they probably have a Q and A or tech line.

That's interesting. I put a Timney in my 788 and all I had to do was inlet the stock just a little.

Btw, this thread was a timely reminder that I need a trigger for my daughter's rifle.
I found a site that has the one I needed for $30 off, $8.99 shipping.

Check eBay too. Sometimes there's some that are cheap.

I had the same issue. I removed a little wood around the safety to clear it up. Good luck.

The pin on the left that moves in and out when the safety is activated?

The fence wasn't that ornate when I saw him, if I recall.

I emailed Timney and they have a bolt stop that's a little longer for model 788 and they are going to ship me one.
