I need a good plinker for a Spectre II, what to get?

I have a couple good tricked out 10/22's that are fixing to go off for threading. And in center fire rifles I have from 223 up covered pretty well (which won't shoot through a Spectre II, but that gives a frame of reference). The Spectre will cover up to a 22 Hornet, maybe K-Hornet? Not sure I want something that big though, or to be reloading yet another rifle cartridge.

I am thinking maybe half way between a 22 RF and a 223. Probably a bolt gun, but for sure not married to the idea if somebody makes a convincing argument with the appropriate coolness factor. Maybe a 17 HMR? I already have a Leupold 4-12x40 to put on it. I want accuracy, decent varmint whacking power, and available ammo.

Somebody please talk me into something and help me spend some money I am going to have to scrape together. I need an excuse to go back on the Ramen noodle rifle diet.

Search GB for a CZ 452 in 17HMR or a something in 17 Hornet or 20 something.

Like slick said, sounds like a 17 Hornet fits your description.

you know my vote goes to the 17 hornet..... Maybe something different and find a excel arms 5.7 x 28mm semi auto rifle.

Agree on the hornet fitting the role. But it's tough paying .75-.85 a pop for rf ammo. I'd rather just shoot my .223, or .22 hornet.

I'd step back down into the hmr or 22 mag and just shoot your 223 when needed

My 223 is a CZ 527, and I love it. It is threaded 1/2x28, and I do have reduced loads that are right in line with the 22 Hornet power levels. So, I do already have that capability, just not in a dedicated rig.

17 Hornet.......Is the Spectre II rated for that? That would be a serious contender if I wanted to run top end of that spectrum. Just not sure if top end is where I am at...

Just for giggles, somebody talk me OUT of an HMR. Tell me what is bad, or wrong with them. What is a good economical and accurate platform for the HMR?

Ruger 77/17 is my favorite suppressed rimfire BY FAR. And gets my vote. It even out does my PWS T3 summit

HMR. Loves the 17 grain hornady vmax. Hates the CCI stuff. Fun to shoot jack rabbit in the face with haha

I thought the Ruger would be cheaper than the CZ. I was wrong!
