    Thoughts on Mossberg....

I've been looking into the new Mossberg Patriot 30-06. Its a cheap gun, I already have a good Nikon scope, and I mostly bow hunt. I don't want to spend $1000/+ on a rifle that stays in the closet mostly. Has anyone heard anything about these or shot one or know someone who has one?

The reviews seem to be positive.. Although most are done by people wearing Mossberg shirts.

For normal hunting situations, any rifle that serves the bullet where you want it will work. I have a Mossberg Maverick 243 that I paid 150 for that had yet to miss. And the company stands behind their products. I'd buy it

Rem 700, ADL $379.99 at Academy, +$35 mail in rebate.
            better value in my opinion

I have the Mossberg 100ATR Scout in 243. love the gun, but I wish there was more aftermarket for it.

I have a Maverick in .270 and it is a good rifle for the price. Good enough that it is going as a back up rifle to Yoakum Dunes with me on the 20th. I have a Mossberg 4x4 in 30-06 but I haven't put a scope on it yet. I caught it on clearance from Grab-a-gun for $290 a few months ago. This version has the wood stock. The Patriot is supposed to be the next Gen of the 4x4 but with a shorter barrel.

I have a Ruger American Ranch Rifle in .300 BLK that in about the same class as the Mossberg Patriot. I killed two deer with it last weekend, super handy little rifle and I LOVE the concept of it but it has really bad light primer strikes if it gets even slightly dirty...

Mossberg has come a long way in rifle production. It is a value priced rifle that delivers results. There is a difference between cheap and inexpensive. Mossberg is inexpensive.
I have their MVP rifle in 5.56 I love it. Very accurate.
