For example... If you want to leave the house and go to work and your suppressor and wife are home and it's bought as an individual that supposedly is technically a federal firearms offense if you don't have it locked in a safe that she doesn't have access to, etc. That's a silly example, but there's a lot of pros to a trust and no real negatives. Makes it easier on the family when you die and they're on the trust, you can lend them to a buddy and slap him on the trust real quick, etc. Trust is easy, this dude will call you and explain it all before you spend a dime. https://texasguntrust.com/about-us

They weren’t over the ATF submission, the local shop was. Took 15 mins on the phone with the local shop once they had possession of the can and then was submitted to ATF.

So I have hunted in a couple of places where hunters put their gun on a gun rack back at camp until the next hunt. No safe available. So if I go fill feeders or ride around the ranch without my deer rifle banging around in the vehicle and the can is an individual or the other lease members folks aren't on my trust is that also a felony? Seems a little ticky tack.

If you do it as an individual, you are the only person on the planet that can legally be in possession of the NFA item. If you leave it in your safe at your house and leave your house while your wife or anyone else is in the house, they are technically breaking the law by being in possession of the NFA item that they are not authorized to possess. If you have a trust, you can add your wife, family members, or whoever else you want to add as additional trustees of the trust, and then they are legally able to possess and use the NFA item. You can add and remove trustees any time you want, if your trust document allows for it. John Willi's trusts do all of that. Very easy.

Letter of the law says, yes.

Sorry just saw this. Yes that's exactly the letter of the law. The whole **** thing is ticky tack and shouldn't be regulated at all, but here we are. I'm sure it'll never be a problem unless something ridiculous happens like somebody steals it and you report it to the law, or somebody gets shot, or there's an investigation over something else, etc.
