    Scope mounting question

I got my granddaughter a new 243 this year. A Howa that came with a scope and picattiny rail. I mounted it and we went to the range. She asked me to move the scope back closer to her eye so I did. Shoots accurately but I noticed the bell of scope is touching the top of the rail near the front. I don't think this is impacting accuracy based on experience with it but on the other hand it must be putting a little upward stress on the front of the scope. Any thoughts on this?

I think that with repeated recoil contact of the scope with the rail could lead to accuracy problems/loosening of the scope rings or damage to the scope. Maybe you could cut the rail down a little to keep it from contacting the scope?

Close is good, but contact is iffy...

I'd get a little daylight in between.

All these are correct. Get a lil daylight. She wont notice 1/16-1/8 of an inch.
