Remington 700 long range 7mm mag - Factory load choices

Yesterday I purchased a Remington 700 long range in 7mm mag. I am trying to decide what factory ammunition I need to buy to hunt with this gun. Barrel twist is 1:9.25 if that matters. I'm not looking to win any shooting competitions. Just simply want an accurate round out to 300 yards. I'm not into reloading and really don't plan to get into it unless I have to.

I heard hsm so I used it on my sendero and it was the worst ammo I've ever had and the cs sucked horribly.. Went to nosler trophy grade and it was awesome.. Also had good luck with Remington premier but that was a long time ago..

What grain ammunition are you using?

For years I've been a fan of Federal, both the standard in the blue box which is a speer bullets and the Premium line with it's many bullet choices. The also have the fusion line which will fit your needs.

I've also had good luck with HSM, Hornady and recently Vortex which is Barnes.

I've always shot the Federal Ballistic Tips because that's what my old Sako 7mm Mag liked to shoot. It would be ideal if the new gun likes the same ammo since I have a lot of it I've already bought.

I just want to get an idea what this particular gun with the 1:9.25 barrel twist likes so I didn't spend a bunch on different ammunition to try and figure it out.

How about our Sendero shooters as well? Same question for you guys. Seems like the Sendero in 7mm mag has the identical twist rate. What ammo does your guns like best?

I still shoot Old Remington CorLokt 150gr SP out of mine and am pleased with accuracy out to 600 yards. I have tried a bunch of others and always come back to these.

Now I am not shooting a Remmington, so the best thing is to find what your rifle likes.

I just got a 700 Long Range a couple weeks ago and sighted it in last weekend. It's a 30-06, not a 7mag, but I just figured I'd chime in anyway and say that I was very pleased with the way it shot. It's a heavy gun, so no kick at all! I shot a half box of 150gr. Hornady American Whitetail through it and it shot great!

I have always shot the Remington 150 or 140 grain core Lokts and 300 yards will be a chip shot with a 7mm mag. 2" high at 100 and you will be good to go drop around 4" at 300 and will be dead on around 240 with the 140 grains.

I appreciate you posting. That's really good to hear. Hopefully mine shoots as well as yours does.

A friend has the same gun you just bought and shoots Hornady American whitetail. Gun is sub MOA and since we have 1000 yard range by our town he regularly shoots to 750 with this ammunition with repeatable accuracy...plus it less than 30.00 a box

The Hornady ammo as recommend is a good choice. I ran Barnes Vortex ammo in my 7mm when it was all factory. It really liked the 150g TTSX. Another good option is to find you some Nosler Custom ammo with the 150 or 160g accubond.

You really need to try hornady superformance 180sst and find a good 168 like the amax to try or the black hills 168. Trust me it's worth trying.
