7-08 load components

Going to work up a load for my sons Savage 7-08. Basic 110 that I bedded but all factory otherwise. Get respectable accuracy with factory loads though.

Will load 120g Nos BT

What powder has proven best? Thinking IMR 4350.

Have Barnes or Rem brass, is one substantially better?

My best 120gr load is with H414. Also had good results with RL 15. Good luck.

This what Nosler says. H4895 as most accurate.
But I've had good luck with IMR4320 at 44.5 grains. 2900 FPS

Interesting how Nosler's info has changed!

I'm using 45.0 grains of Varget and getting a little over 3000 fps with a 22.5 inch barrel.

I have found that H4895 and IMR4064 worded best in my mine with 120gr. They also shoot the Sierra 140s quite well with this powder.

Using the H4895 to make loads for Twerpy. Recoil is light with a reduced recoil load (get the info from Hodgdon)

I've used Varget with TTSX 120 gr and had pretty good success so far.

After your responses and some other research I chose to start with Varget. It seemed to be mid-pack in recommendations, near upper end of velocity and I keep a fair amount on hand since that is what my 308 likes. If it works it will mean 1 less powder to inventory.

Loaded up 5 test groups tonight so hope to get some results soon.

Varget is good stuff. Hard to find around here these days..
I've got about 38 lbs of different IMR's so I need use them anyway..
