    Suppressor question.....22lr and .223

Will a suppressor for .22 cal work on any .22 cal??? Say from 22 long rifle, to .223 AR, to 22-250 bolt gun?

You could, in theory run a .224 Centerfire can on a .22LR or other rimfire.

But that is a terrible thing to do. Rimfire suppressors are designed to be taken apart and cleaned because the ammunition is so dirty.

You will ruin a centerfire can by shooting rimfire ammo through it.

Rimfire cans won't hold the pressure from the high gas volume. Get a user serviceable rimfire can. Then get a good center fire can.

Texmax, get outta here with that crappy kestrel nonsense lol

Simply pointing out that such an animal exists. That was the question. I gave it no endorsement

LOL, I've got a Kestrel 9. I wish I had done more research before I let the $$ sway me into buying it. (I was ~$900 all in including 2 stamps for it and a 22 can from SS back in March) But it does get the 300BO down to hearing safe, which was it's primary use, and it's serviceable, important as I shoot a lot of cast bullets through it.

Technically you can run rim fire in one it won't ruin or just not the best. Yes you can drop your can in an ultrasonic cleaner and it will clean them just fine.

Be very careful with the ultrasonic cleaner. Very good chance of damaging finish and or baffles with the wrong medium (like "The Dip")

youll never get the gunk from a 22 out of a centerfire can. And yes, it will ruin one if done enough.

They have their place. Besides the trash can, I do see why, guys who shoot cast stuff like you, shoot them. But man....lol. So many better options lol

Yeah, I know better now. It's hearing safe, but not Hollywood quiet.

In theory, a 5.56 suppressor can be used on a .22 but it will dirty up your suppressor. This is seriously not recommended.

You CAN NOT use a .22 suppressor on a 5.56 riffle, as the pressure is too much for the suppressor to handle.
