    Timney Install Question

I was unhappy with the x mark trigger in my sendero, so I bought a Timney 512. I installed it and it went in super easy. When I put the rifle stock back on I tourqed the action screws to 45 inch pounds in a front to pack pattern. This rifle shot 1/2 moa before the trigger swap. Now it shoots 3 moa. Nothing feels or looks loose... What did I do wrong?

Could have introduced contact somewhere. Pull the action. Smear on some inletting black or Permatex Prussian Blue. Reassemble, disassemble, and see if you get a mark anywhere.

Couldn't I just check this with a dollar bill? I tested that right after re assembly and there was not contact

How does the new trigger feel? Pull weight about right?

This is a real head scratcher as I'm sure you know. But it just about has to be something with the way you reassembled it. Are the front and back action screws identical - if not, might you have got them reversed?

Pull weight on trigger seems fine, I know fo a fact I got the action screws in right. I wonder if my tourqe isn't right. Does anyone know what spec is?

Check to see if your mag box is binding if you are running factory bottom metal. There should be a little play in it, and they can be tricky to seat properly at times. If you are running aftermarket bottom metal, it is probably the cross pin on the trigger itself causing a binding issue. I usually have to relieve a small area for proper clearance when running timneys and most DBM set ups.

My point was that the contact spot may be in the trigger area, not the barrel channel. Seen this happen before. Depending on what kind of stock you have, when you torque down the rear action screw it could bind somewhere in the trigger area that was once free and clear. Similar to what Stick1 said above about the mag box. Something is throwing off the harmonics.

Do this. Timney needs to be inletted for. It's wider and the front has to be inletted for.

I had to inlet the stock on my 788 when I installed a Timney.

Same as above is my guess I had to Dremel my stock a little for my timney
