    Help with Pistol Jamming

Took wife yesterday to pistol range to let her shoot her pistol. It is a Taurus Slim PT709. Almost every time she shoot when the magazine is full, her pistol jams up. It appears that it tries to load another round before the spent round is ejected. We did notice that when she only put 4 rounds in the magazine, it didn't seem to happen. I know she has a problem with "Limp Wristing" the pistol and I'm trying to work on this. She can shoot my pistol and generally doesn't have any problems, so I wondering if it is not the recoil of a light weight pistol

Also before this turns into a Taurus bash, I can shoot her pistol as many rounds as I want and never have a problem.

    Is it Recoil
    Limp Wrist
    Strong Spring in Mag.

If you can shoot it as many as you want with no jams.

Then its limp wrist. Tell her to lock arms and lean into it just to see if it still does it.

Im assuming this is a new to her gun or did it just start happening?

Yahtzee, I had a bad problem that just started one day with my beretta "stove piping". I noticed it only happened when I was spotlighting for rabbits, 9mm in one hand and Beretta in the other. I was limp writing it and the slide would actually catch the spent round while it was being ejected.

My 9mm did this until after @100 rounds through that clip and it Doesn't like the cheap (Non-Brass) CCI Ammo ... Jams every other shot. Once I switched to better Brass Ammo ... No Issues.

Maybe you can polish the ramp. And it will work better for her until you get the limp wrist worked out.

Since you can shoot it with no problems IMO there is no problem with the gun.

You will just have to work on her technique more. Make sure she isn't teacupping it with her grip.

I have a PT709 and have never had a problem. I reload and shoot all kinds of bullets through it.

Limp wrist is my vote !!

If you don't have the same problem when you shoot it, that indicates operator error on her part. Sounds like limp wristing to me.

Probably limp wristing, but if it's new, a heavier load can sometimes break in the spring.

Maybe trade guns with her since she shoots yours just fine?

If its new some break in will help alot as well. Put a few hundred down it and it should start to loosen up. If you make her do it it will teach her not to limp wrist after she clears the gun a few dozen times.

I even shoot cast bullets in mine for cheap practice and never fail to feed or fire. A step up in bullet weight would probably fix the problem.

                              She's limp wristing, IMO.

Step 1: get her a revolver. Step 2: teach her how to operate it.

                              Revolvers don't jam.
