Anyone running XLR or McRees chassis?

Iv'e got a heck of a good shooting Remy 700 AAC-SD 308. I cut the barrel from 20" to 18", threaded and recrowned. Cool muzzle break, worked the trigger down to a crisp factory trigger. I've got it shooting .5 MOA but because of the flimsy stock I will occasionally be hitting the barrel when using the tripod. Also hate not having adjustable cheek weld. Looked into Manners, McMillian, Bell & Carlson, I like them but having to may as much as they want, plus inletting, then buying bottom metal kit. Etc... Just doesn't work for me. Also I really like doing my own work. So I started looking into the chassis that are out there, for my budget range I can go

XLR Element, XLR Evolution, or McRees

I know there are a couple others that fall in that price range but I have cast them out for various reasons. Now out of the 3 listed above I like the XLR evolution the least, not a fan of the tube over the barrel.

So now I'm really down to the McRees G5 or the XLR Element. Anyone running either of these? Any good or bad things to say about them?

You didnt ask about it, but you may want to take a look at the KRG X-Rayif you have not seen it yet

One of my GS's refuses to build custom rifles using a chassis system since you never have 100% full contact between the action bottom and chassis. To make 'em fit correctly additional machine work or skim bedding is often required.

I did look into it and no folding stock and v bedding were the 2 turnoffs for me.

I like that setup, dad has a 260, build off of a rem 700, bart barrel, manners stock, MCGS titanium 260 can, Jewell trigger, and a few other goodies. 6.5 is a heck of a good caliber for long gunning.

Went with the XLR Element. Ordered it yesterday, tac lite stock and monopod adapter. I'll get it all strapped into the chassis and take it out fro some test firing next weekend.

I have a McRee that I'm going to use to make a 16.1" 300 black out folder on Thursday. I wanted a backpack gun for shooting supersonic and subsonic ammo. All the chasis mentioned are great and you'll be happy with the XLR. For anyone reading the post later, don't forget about Accuracy International and take a look a Rock Solid. If money is no object, check out Eberlestock's chasis.
