Does anyone have any personal experience with these scopes? Obviously the Leupold vx2 and vx3 don't have illuminated reticles, but I'm more curious how the glass compares between the two brands.

It's not the best for LR shooting out past 500 as the crosshairs are a little to thick. But inside that IMO there's not a better all around hunting scope. And if I could afford it I would have one on every rifle except my 300win and creedmore that I often shoot further than 500.
If they would slim the crosshairs a little and make a zero stop for the trijicon. I could care less if their was another scope ever built. Until you got over $1500 range then their are some that will beat it. But not for hunting and general shooting purposes.

All of my rifles are topped with Leupolds, most of them VX3. THey have always worked for me and I stick with them for that reason. I did in the last year top my Marlin SBL 45-70 with the Leupold VX.R 2-8 with the Ballistic Firedot reticle. It is illuminated in the center and while I have not had a need to use the lighted dot as of yet, I can see where in the dark timber, or at dawn and dusk it would be nice.
I have no experience with Trijicon.

Trijicin makes an Accupower now. Similar to the Accupoint, but it's electronic instead of fiber optic.

Thanks for the opinions. If it makes any difference, let me qualify my original question. I'm looking at a 3-9x40 (or 3.5-10x40 in the VX3). It will be used atop an AR with the goal of making this my coyote gun. I imagine most shots will be 100 yards on average, and probably nothing beyond 200. Probably dawn and dusk shooting. An illuminated reticle would be nice but not absolutely necessary. I rarely hunt with or shoot the gun, so an expensive scope would be a waste of money, but I do need to upgrade the crappy NcStar scope currently on the gun.
The Trijicon, VX3 and VX-R are all $500. The VX2 is $300. All are 1" tubes except the VX-R which is 30mm. So is it worth $200 more than the VX2 to get the Trijicon, VX3 or VX-R? And if so, Trijicon or Leupold?
