    Gun shows

Rode up to brenham with my dad to visit a gun show today. Good lawd how do those guys make any money??!!

    500-530 for a glock 42? 560 for a 31?
18 bucks for .17 HMR bullets, 60 bucks for a 555 pack of .22 LR. 29 for 300 blk subs.

Then there's the first guy at the door. "All private sales, no forms no checks, Obama don't have to know".

Walked out with 3 glock 22 mags for 35 bucks and that's it

They make money because people are willing to pay those kinds of prices!

Also it's just a game and how you talk to the sellers. Talked a guy into a brand new blemished free float quad rail for 60$ at the last show.

I think they are willing to because they don't see it on the shelf and buy it at what ever it is.
There's a guy at the shows here that has the 1400rnd buckets for $110
Academy has them for like $65

And I have seen the same bucket online for $184 which is flat out crazy

I have to agree. The Houston Gun Collectors shows used to be good. When I started reloading I was able to pick up what I needed at gun shows. Now by the time I pay $12 for parking and $10 to get in to spend more money and the half day time commitment it's not worth it to me. I can do better shopping online for everything except powder and primers.

Last time I went to a Knife and Jerky show as a couple years ago.

Told my buddy if I ever spoke about going to another gun show to kick me in the nutz and steal $20 from me, and call it done.

There is no way that the "mom and pop" vendors can compete with the online sellers. Take Buds Gun Shop for example. Lower prices than a gun show and free shipping.

The other part about the gun show industry that is killing them is that they are cannibalizing themselves. In DFW there is a show every weekend it seems. There are 4 major promoters that I know of and a ton of smaller promoters that all want a share of the pie. They are spreading their potential buyers AND vendors so thin that they are eating themselves alive.

20 years ago gun shows were the place to go and see everything that you wanted and get good deals. You paid the price because you didn't have much else to compare it to. Now you can shop across the US for the best availability and pricing without ever leaving the comfort of your home. No crowds, no buying tickets, no hassle.

Yep. Innerwebs has just about killed the days of finding deals

Newsflash...gun shows are not the place to CONSISTENTLY get deals for 'new production guns'. They Never have been. Places like buds & gunbroker where high volume rules are the places to go for retail guns.

Gun shows can be a great source to sell & buy your used guns & collectables & I'll never know what I can sell or find if I stay at home. I hope more people boycott them as they are too crowded already.

                        Simmer down tater tot!!

I agree with all that. I skip the big shows and hit the small ones that cost 5 or 8 bucks to get in and have free parking.

The kind where a little old lady sells antique bingo lures, red Abu 5000s with pearl handles and red coleman latterns. Nicer folks at those anyway

I went to the Cedar Park show this weekend and left empty handed. Ive only bought one gun from a show in my life. Ive been able to find much better deals elsewhere.
