I have shot 7mm 162 AMAX's through my WSM and never had a problem killing whitetails or hogs. I actually dropped a hog in his tracks at 830 yards with an AMAX with a high shoulder shot.

I would choose a different bullet for elk or bigger but they will work just fine for deer.

Watched a a guy on tv in Africa with a 7wsm send a 162gr AMax through a wilderbeast and a kudu with no issue . So after that I have no issues using them.

                140 grain Amax-100 yards. Small hole in/out

                140 grain Ballistic Tip

Much bigger hole and more blood to follow

There's a whole lot of difference between a 7 mag and a Creedmore. I personally wouldn't use the AMAX. There are better hunting bullets out there. I use Barnes and Bergers in my 260 and they work great.

I took my doe at 250yrds with 140gr AMAX and she was drt. My rifle likes 140amax better than anything I've put down it. I would not hesitate to use it on any game animal

I have a buddy that adores that bullet for whitetail hunting.

We shot 2 bucks and 1 antelope with them last year. All three were shot perfectly. Walked up on all 3 animals and all three where still breathing. Pin holes entry and exit right behind the shoulder. Will not use them again while hunting deer sized animals. They are down right stupid accurate which is why I chose to hunt with them but there are much better bullets to choose from for hunting purposes.

I had a 6.5 cm 140 grain a max fail to kill a deer. I shot her in the neck, it penciled in and out. No bueno, never made a shot like that and had a deer run off, blew my mind. Probably should have shot her behind the shoulder. But since that shot I quit using a max for deer.

                          I now use vld's

Two axis and one whitetail killed with 30 cal AMAX bullets at the end of last season. To be fair, the whitetail was a head shot, but the two axis were drt. The first one was my buddy's, shot with the 125gr IIRC (I could be mistaken) right behind the shoulder. The jacket was lodged under the hide on the opposite side, she was close, probably 50-75 yards. The second, mine, was drilled through the front of one shoulder and exited the ribs just behind the opposite shoulder. Exit was about the size of a golf ball. She was pretty far, can't remember exact range, but it was between 250 and 300 yards.

Why handicap yourself? Really. You know going in that a lot of people disagree with it so why risk it when there are many proven hunting bullets that are as or more accurate.
