    SPRish Build

I have a wild hair to build a new AR. I have decided to build an SPRish rifle. For now, I have picked up a Spike's lower and an LPK. I have the following planned. Let me know if you have suggestions for better/different options. My main goal is to build a multipurpose rifle which can be used for close range and medium range (up to 300 yards) with better than average accuracy.

    Caliber: 5.56

    Upper: Spikes flat top

BCG: RCA or Wilson Combat (98.97 for their semi-auto version is hard to beat)

Barrel: Wilson Combat 18" 1:8 twist stainless SPR contour

Handguard: YHM quad rail free floating

    Stock: Standard A2

That being said, if anyone has any parts laying around, I will be glad to trade you some cash for your parts.

Anyone have experience with the Wilson Combat BCG?

Got the Spikes Upper today at the gun show. What's the word on the PSA nickel boron BCG?

Waiting on an LPK is hard. Should be here Tuesday. To kill time I painted in the logos on my lower.

I've heard poor reviews about the coating on those cheaper Nickel boron BCG's. I also like the heavier full auto BCG. Spikes BCG is good to go since you like them. . What trigger are you going to run?

Yep. The BCG is one place you don't want to cut corners.

WMD Guns, Fail Zero and Wilson make good coated BCG.

            Spikes wouldn't be terrible either.

What did you paint them with?

Just basic nail polish. Easy to remove or redo when the time comes.

I haven't picked a trigger yet. I hear that the comparison for all triggers is a Geisselle. I have had luck with polishing and tuning a mil spec trigger before and plan on doing that in this rifle for the start.

                    Man

I just put a 3 lb VELOCITY TRIGGER in one of my lowers today and WOW....
                    I am impressed.

I have used both the curved and straight Chip Mc drop ins in a few of my other rifles and I am a believer..

                    Costs -- $150.

                    Solid made and SWEET.

Thanks to DCZ71 I now have a stock and complete lower. Still can't figure out the barrel. Found a deal on a 16" match grade stainless fluted barrel that's hard to pass up. I really wanted to go 18". What will I give up in the shorter barrel?

Another piece of the puzzle is on its way. Thanks to "sideways" I have a hand guard en route to my door.

With the exception of a charging handle and optics, she is all put together. With the help of some great people on TBH, my total budget is less than $700 as it sits.

                              Lower/Upper: Spike's Tactical
                              BCG: PSA Premium BCG
Barrel: 16" Match Grade Stainless Fluted .223 Wylde 1:8 twist Mid-length gas system
                              Hand guard: YHM free float
