Rem 700 questions

I just did some trading for a rem 700 in 270. The forend of the stock angles back toward the action. When looking up the serial number it shows to be made in either 1962 or early 80s. Can someone tell me when it was produced.

rifle is from the late 80's , possibly early 90's

FYI - 700 action SN# C6212109 is dated 12/87

C6455973 (yours) is possibly from 1989/1990'ish


barrel coding is never 100% accurate ... gotta go with the serial number which never lies

I was hoping for that era so that hopefully it hadn't been as shot out. I just wasn't sure about that stock design but I like it. My son and I are stripping it down tomorrow and gonna start the refinishing soon. I'll try to post the progress
