Put a Timney on my Ruger American 270

Finally broke down and ordered one a few days ago straight from Timney. They've been available for a while now, but have not seen one anywhere other than on Timney's site.

I didn't mind the factory trigger, but wanted better. It wasn't a bad trigger, but it did have just a hair of take up and felt like it had a hard spot before releasing. Ordered the new one set to 2 lbs, adjustable to 1.5. It actually made a big difference. Zero take up and crisp. Feels a whole lot better than before.

Still debating on whether or not I want to put a boyds prairie hunter stock on it. This is a public land hunting rifle, so I don't want to add much weight to it, plus it always has the chance of getting knocked around and dinged. I just got it back from being threaded, just waiting on my harvester stamp. So the weight of a harvester isn't much, but pair that with a heavier stock and I'm not sure if I'll like it.

But over all, the $125 for the trigger was a good purchase. Plan on going to the range in the next day or two to really see how it feels. Literally just installed so only a few dry fires to tell the initial difference.

The laminate boyds prairie hunter is not real heavy. Ive ordered a few and actually have one coming for my Model 70. Anytging is going to add weight compared to the placstic factory thing, but to me it would be worth it.

I'll probably end up doing it, but it'll be a while. Time to spend my play funds on prepping for bow season

Testing it out, letting the barrel cool at the moment. Definitely a better feel. More focused on everything but the trigger pull. Worth it

I've been thinking about getting a Timney for my RAR. I bought mine before Timney offered a trigger. I did't like the 3.5 lb minimum Ruger built into it so I took it apart and filed .001" off the seer, replaced the spring and polished everything. Ended up with a 2.5 lb trigger. All that work and only dropped 1 lb. Was too lazy to do it again.

I love Timney triggers, got em in all my rifles. Except my .22, the they made a Timney for a Savage 22 I would buy it.

Another Timney fan here. I turned a Savage Axis into a much better shooting gun with one.
