    First Suppressor- Barrel Threading Question

Just got my first suppressor- Silencerco Omega. It will be used primarily on my .308 LTR. The barrel is fluted and 20 inches long. I am very pleased with the current performance of the gun. My question is can i cut a few inches off the length of the barrel before having it threaded effect its accuracy?

If cut and crowned correctly, it could improve accuracy. If not it could be detrimental to accuracy.

OR, you can just swap barrels with a shorter one. It would probably cost you about the same.

Also, if your threads aren't perfectly square, you could start having baffle strikes with your suppressor. Id Probably just swap the barrel.

When did you send your paper work off, check cashed, and approved?

Even if cut to 16 inches?

I cut my LTR back to thread and with the way the flutes run you aren't able to take that much off. Mine shoots one hole with Rem Core Loc with the can on. (darndest thing I know. I can't seem to hand load more accurate ammo.)

Yes, the length doesn't really matter, what matters is that the crown is cut true and to a lesser degree the angle of the crown.

More than likely you wont be able to cut any length off since it is fluted.

All I can say is that Morgan did great work on my 700 when I sent it to him. Bout to send another 2 barrels to him.

Ask Morgan btw Richey is the man. Tell him atleast you're not sending him 30 lbs of TC barrels. Lol.
