The older Arsenals are Saiga conversions. I have an Arsenal that began life as a Saiga sporter, imported and converted by Arsenal then sent to Krebs Custom and was further modified to a Krebs 103 which is the configuration I bought the rifle in, brand new.

The newer model Arsenals are Bulgarian AKs.

I think Atlantic Firearms is converting Saigas again.

Both are excellent choices. Atlantic Firearms is know for it's customer service and usually stock rifles started at $600 or so all the way to $2,000 + AKs. If you call them they can help you with your decision.

Circle 10 is another good online AK source.

The milled receivers add weight. Most of the AK's around the world are stamped models dues to the cost. The more bends in a piece of steel the stronger it is. H&K makes ALL of their rifles and SMG's from STAMPED steel receivers. So are they making cheaper guns because they are stamped not milled? NO they are not. Stamping a good design without adding weight.

One thing AK's are famous for is the oil that drips off the forend and out of the wood while shooting. The barrel and gas port get extremely hot.

I have a Romanian WASR 10. Cheap gun yes, but it goes boom every time I pull the trigger. Its just a cheap truck gun but I dig it. You want to make sure that the front sight base is not canted to one side or the other. There are you tube videos that go over what to look for when buying an AK. Get you one and shoot the hell out of it, they are fun for the whole family.

                      A. Stamped
                      B. Milled
And it makes a distinct sound when fired upon.

in the application of this weapon platform, stamped is the actual method of mfr.

Went and shot about 60-rounds thru it today. Cheap, $10.99 for forty bullets, steel case FMJ. I had an old ice chest propped up against this tree out at my place, and stood off about 40-yards. I probably murdered the tree, but on a side note, will get some mesquite to cook with...
