    260 Ackley Improved

Been looking for some reloading data but not finding much. I was wondering if anyone out there might share a pet load for me?

I'm fire forming .260 brass as I speak.

You will have to work up a load for your particular setup by trying different components, but in my 260AI I have good results with Lapua brass, F210M primers, H4831SC, and 139 grain Scenars. I use 47.0 gr powder for fireforming loads and 48.5 gr in match loads.

48.8 grains of h4831sc, 140g berger vld's, cci primers and lapua brass.

This is a hot load so work your way up to it

              50.0gr H4831, 120 Ballistic Tip, GM210M, Lapua brass, 0.020 jump, 2950fps.

I worked up and ran a ladder test. I can go faster but that was the accuracy node.

Not trying to highjack the post but I've got my brass formed. Now does it need to be trimmed? if so to what length.

Fire formed Lapua brass, now to start working up the most accurate load.

I think you trim to what the book says for a regular 260. Not for sure. Maybe someone will help us out.

I've been looking around for my notes, on how I started loading. Since 260AI isn't recognized by SAAMI, use the parent case maximum. That's one of the great things about the Ackley Improved chambering -- that the parent caliber can be shot.

That being said, the maximum case length is 2.035" for 260 Remington.

After I fire-formed my Lapua brass, I measured cases and settled on 2.025" for my trim length, as this was the most common length of my fired cases.

                            Hope this helps.
