You should be able to sell that Vanguard for about what a Model 700 cost then the build price can vary depending on options.

I added to my build price with a muzzle brake then blew it with an additional $300 in added cost of the McM stock which I found on another site.

Here's mine. I'm a bit limited in hand loading experience but have some good teachers; both on here and family.

In some very limited range sessions, I've managed two different loads under .5moa at 100 and am just tweaking seating depth at this time.
Ok you guys are killing me here with all these awesome rifles!

I am definitely going the custom route!!!

Ok now to tell the wife....wish me luck!

On second thought maybe I will just beg for forgiveness later!

Timney trigger, brake, and 20 moa rail - upgrades
Totaled out at $1850 with $100 TBH discount

Right now I'm shooting off a bipod and my holes are touching @ 200yds

Just saw where you are in Chandler,
I'm in Ben Wheeler and if you want to look over and test drive my APR, give me a shout.
With the brake, my 300 doesn't even kick like a 243!

        We could meet at Wades!!!!

I'm with the other guys, upgrade the stock, trigger, and glass. If you're going full custom build there is no reason not to use the Weatherby action as long as you can find a stock you like for it, and whoever is doing the build can cut metric threads. The action is every bit as good as a 700, it just doesn't have the huge aftermarket.

Does this offer still stand? About to pull the trigger on an APR build and would really appreciate the opportunity to look over yours. Tried to send you a PM but it wouldn't go through for some reason.

            Thanks!

The ability to shoot 700+ yards in the field takes A LOT of time behind a gun. With 10-11 feet of bullet drop, you need a scope that can be adjusted, and keep zero. VERY accurate distance is required. If you miss judge distance by 50 yards that far you have + or - 2 feet of drop to account for just in that last 50 yards( from 700 to 750). I think quality scope and rangefinder and as important as the gun.

This!!! At 400 yards it doesn't matter. I would be looking for a 5 shot extreme speed spread in lower teens. If the rifle will not do it then I would not use it over 500.

If I were going to spend some money on that rifle I would bed it and upgrade the glass. Get some quality glass with a ballistic turret matched to your rifle.

But realistically I would sell it and build a custom before I tried a shot that long at a live animal. One inch at 100 is eight inches at 800. Totally unacceptable to me personally. Too many good rifles out there that will shoot 1/2 MOA or better. The rifle will cost some up front but when you figure 30 years of use out of it its pretty inexpensive compared to what you will spend over the years on everything else.

To be honest though there are very few people who practice enough to ethically harvest a animal at 800 yards. Unlesss you are one of the few who will put in the practice time I would stick with what I have and limit myself to 500 yards. Its amazing how much tougher 800 is than 500. JMHO
