    scope help! - premier heritage?

I need some advice here...My brother in law has a premier scope and raves about it. I still haven't decided what to put on my 270wby (APR built for me) and I found a Premier Light Tactical 3-15x50 with mil adjustments and mil dot reticle. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with them or could give me an idea of the glass quality vs swarovski, zeiss?

I believe it's around 24 oz, so comparable with a zeiss hd5, and all the reviews I've read say it has really nice glass. If anyone has experience with them at all, I really appreciate your input. Thanks

If they are so great, how come I've never heard about them before. I've read up on many, many different scopes and tend to stick with what I know. My pockets are kiddy pool deep, so I stick with the mid Leupold to Zeiss Conquest price ranges. But for that kind of money, I'd be looking at some Swarovski Z6's.

Premier Reticles have been around for 30 years and build high end optics comparable to US Optics, March, and S&B . IMO, much better glass than Zeiss and LEU MkIV's . I've looked through and shot over most of them as PR holds their own vs. the big names.

When used scopes are listed for sale, PR optics are purchased immediately by people in the benchrest, high power, and sniper shooting disciplines who know all about them

They got started in the industry by swapping reticles in Leupold scopes. Back then the Vari-X III was the top dog ~ 1985. Leupold was OK with it until they realized that PR was taking away from their custom shop (reticle swap) business. LEU then decided to NOT warranty PR modified scopes and many people got pizzed at LEU. I currently own 2-3 LEU scopes that were sent to PR for reticle changes.

Sometime around the early/mid 90's PR got a gov't contract to install reticles in military optics (scopes and spotters) . Shortly after making big bank $$ they went full time into the scope building business

I'd buy one in a heart beat if I ever decided to sell some of my current scopes.

back in the day, you could design any type of reticle you wanted and Premier would custom make it and install. This reticle (below) was likely used for short range benchrest to assist in holdover from wind and mirage. PR also designed reticles with holdover dots based on your dope (velocity , caliber, bullet, BC, etc...). Dots could be installed at any yardage you wanted .. 200, 450, 600, 850, 1000 , etc ... sorry for the large pic

another custom PR reticle based on holdover dot / yardages ; probably from the early 90's

They got bought out by tangent theta. Tat will cover the warranty still. Too end scopes that bring a premium when they come up. Just heavy. Excellent scopes.
