The z5 is the best one you mentioned. Z6i gives you a larger main tube, more zoom and illuminated reticle. Ultimately it's a question of budget and if you think you will get your money's worth out of the extra features or clearer glass. Always a tough decision.

Actually I would rather have the swarovski z5 on a hunting rifle. Sleek, light weight, simple and GREAT glass. Now if I was building a long range rifle where I was going to be twisting turrets then yes S&B hands down

I don't mind the long range rifle from a nice heated texas style box blind (shooting house). But I do need something along those lines for my lightweight hunting rig. Optics purchases are just painful!!!

Thanks for the info. I just need a good hunting scope(350 to 400 yd. range). The Nikon Mon. has done me well for several years. It just seems the older I get I need something clearer and more light early and late ,low light conditions.

                  Get a 30mm scope verses the 1in, I think it's a big difference

One of the problems with old, tired eyes is that they don't dilate as much as they used to. A scope with a bigger exit pupil, like a 50 mm, doesn't help because your eye's pupil won't open up enough to take advantage of it. High end glass will help anyone see more clearly so you are on the right track. The other thing to consider is the reticle. A fine duplex is hard to see with old eyes. Get a heavier reticle or maybe an illuminated reticle.

I may not be spelling reticle correctly - my spell checker keeps trying to change it to testicle.

If you are comparing the Conquest to the Swarovski then yes, but if you are comparing the Zeiss Victory to the Swarovski then not so much. The Conquest is Zeiss's economical version and shouldn't be compared to a Swarovski because it is not an apples to apples comparison IMO the Zeiss Diavari/Victory is the finest glass on the market! There is a reason eye professionals have Carl Zeiss equipment in there offices!

Your comparing a $1500 swarovski z5 to a $2500 zeiss too. I was just commenting on the 3 scopes the OP mentioned.

One of these days when I get rich I'll have a scope that starts with a z

Not in light transmission it's not.

Quality of glass! Each scope has a sweet spot also on transmission of light. I can't remember the formula but it has something to do with the objective and eye relief maybe or tube diameter????? Basically something divided by or multiplied by gives you a number for best light transmission on that scope.
