Tips for threaded barrel on Kimber 45

Silencer shop told me to go to Midway and buy a threaded barrel then I would need a gunsmith to fit it for me. Anyone else done this for their Kimber 1911s?

They said I also could get s threaded barrel for my XDM 9mms and I could put that in myself.

Also any recommendations for a silencer for both?

You can swap out the pistons for different calibers, it even has a mount for sub machine guns. It can be taken apart completely for cleaning, unlike most pistol cans. It can be run wet or dry.
