    ? For Weatherby Guys

Someone on one of my local firearms groups listed this Weatherby for sale. He listed it as a Weatherby Deluxe V .300 Wby Mag with a Leupold Vari-x III 3.5-10x40. Listed at $1200. My concern is it doesn't look like a Deluxe V to me, looks more like a Euromark ($$$$). Can anyone else determine what it is based off these two photos?

I agree! While it does have the Mark V action it is lacking the Deluxe stock. What year is it? If it is fairly new I agree that it is a Euromark. However, if it is over five years old it may very well be a Sporter! In either case both have the 9 lug Mark V action, but lack the Deluxe stock which should be reflected in the price!

Ahhh, didn't even think about Sporter. The front cap appears to be black to me in the photo, were the sporter caps black back in the day, I believe they are brown now?? If it is a sporter, I think the $1200 price tag is too high, if it's a a Euromark then the price tag seems too low

He did mention it was made between 1995-2002. Not sure how he came up with the years.

True, it is a black cap and the only reason I brought up the Sporter is during there last 2 years of production it was an option to add it! I agree with your price assessment and feel that it is also a good deal if it is a Euromark. Any idea on the year?

That is a vague response Do you have a serial number to do a look up?

Exactly, seems like you would either know what year it was produced or not, the 7 year range is strange. He is at work and can send me the serial number this evening. The only reason I'm trying to decipher what it is now and not waiting to see it in person is he has 4 other interested parties. If a Euromark, it's an excellent pairing with the VX-3 at $1200.

Looks like a Euromark to me. If the serial number begins with an H then it is a Japanese made one and would be in that year range, though I'm not exactly sure if Japanese made Mark V's were limited to 95-02. I have several Japanese made Mark V's, including this 378 Euromark, and they are all very well made and shoot extremely well.

$1200 including the scope is a fair deal.

Even without the confirmation I am fairly certain that it is a Euromark and for that price it is a good deal!

Thanks guys. Seller claims 30 rounds through the gun. I think I just need to set up a time to go get her.

If you buy it and don't like it I will give you $1200 for it!

Figured out how he came up with those years. It's an SB serial number, USA made (which also explains the lack of character in the stock) Mark V's had SB numbers and were made from 95-02. Weatherby sales are out to lunch but hopefully when they return in an hour they can provide me with the year of mfr and model number.

It's a 1997 Euromark. Will grab it this evening and post better photos.
