    Millett Optics

I'm looking at upgrading my scope on my .270. Most shots are within 300 yards.
Looking at the Millett 4-16x50 tactical. Don't have alot of $$ for a new scope.
Currently have a 3-9x40 Leupold vx1 that has been great and holds zero perfectly.
Just want a little more magnification for those further shots.

Please give me suggestions. Would like to stay under $400.

pass on the Millet, you should be able to find a Nikon , Burris, and Leupold VX II within your budget

SWFA sample list has great deals

here is a Burris 4.5-14x42 (demo, like new) at SWFA for $399 ... http://www.samplelist.com/Burris-45-...-C-P83622.aspx

30mm tube, target turrets, Adj Obj, very nice scope

I have a Millet 4-16 and don't really care for it too much. It gets a little blurry at full 16 power. I would have to agree with Blake and go for a Burris.

I have a 4-16 Millet as well. The first one had pieces of debris flaking off of the retical and bubbles formed on the glass. They replaced it with a new one, no questions asked. So that's a plus 1 on their customer service...

Having said that, I'm not a huge fan of the scope and it's function. It's now on my CZ 452 which after a Yo-Dave trigger kit and a new stock will be a very fine trainer.

I agree with above that a Nikon or Burris is a better scope in that price point.

BTW-That's a 3-12 Weaver Kaspa ($229 at Academy) on the lower CZ. It's been a great scope and never moves from zero while this rifle is carried a lot throughout the year and season to the lease. My dad is running the same scope on a 7STW and it's held up well for him for 3 years now.

Having said that about the above Millett, I've been very happy with my 1-4x Millett on my 45-70 Marlin.

I was hard to find an illuminated 1-4x that didn't have Target Knobs.

This scope has a 1 MOA dot surrounded by a 10 MOA circle. I can shoot 1 inch at 100 and 3-4 at 200 yards with this setup. I shot a doe at 210 yards this past December with it, she looked mighty small in the scope at that range....

This is one of my favorite rifles and rides to the lease with me quite a lot.

I've got that same scope on my 223 AR, and I'm going to get a second one for the 300BO as soon as the fun money fund builds back up. I may look into the 1x6 for the 223 and move the 1x4 to the 300.
