    Favorite .308 hunting bullet?

So what's your favorite? Brand and weight?

Personally, I'm interested in 200 yds and under and cost is a factor.

Gun is a 1961 Model 100 if that matters. I know they aren't known for precision shooting, but should be fine for Texas hunting a time or two per year.

Federal fusion if price matters, Barnes TTX if it doesn't. Personally for as much as you will be shooting that rifle I would buy what shoots best and not worry about cost. Once it is sighted in hunting twice you shouldn't shoot more than 4 bullets a year. My model 100 shoots 4 inch groups at 100 yards. There is a reason the model 100 made the top 10 worst deer Rifles of all time by field and stream

I've shot a bunch of game over the years with the 150gr rem corelokt and hornady interlock in both factory and hand loads and they work.

They are both cheap as far as bullets go.

Looks like PPU 150 grain softpoints can be had for 65 to 70 cents a round. I wouldnt hesitate to shoot a deer with them at 200 and under if cost was a concern. You can get Fiocchi for a little more.

hehe, well this one has been in the family since day 1 so I owe it a kill or two. I doubt I shoot over 75 yds to be honest. It's iron sights at the moment.

Realistically any bullet will easily do what you are asking at those ranges.

My preference is Berger VLDs and Barnes TTSX bullets pretty much exclusively.

Hard to beat good old Federal Power Points in 150 grain for value and effectiveness.

Mine has too. Mine actually was a ranch gun at a ranch in South Texas that my uncle got when he retired from that ranch. The crazy part is I become friends with a guy on here because they have a ranch in the same area as ours and we started hanging out and hunting each other's places. I told my dad about the ranch and he said that's were your uncle Benico used to work and that's where that .243 you have came from.

I like the Sierra 165 Game kings HPBT out of my Remington.
My savage likes the 150 Barnes TTSX

Sierra 165gn Game King is a fantastic bullet.

I've also had good success with the 150gn Nosler Ballistic Silvertip.
